The story so farů

After we decided we wanted to do our yearly snowboarding trip on a motorcycle lots of things had to be arranged. Pim allready knew a lot, because of his experience, about making big trips on a motorcycle. But doing it during winter while carrying a snowboard on a motorbike is something totally new.

na de proefrit door Pim One of the most important things was that Richard was not in the possession of a driving license for a motorbike, and also he was not in the possession af a motorbike. On the 30th of July 2011 we went to visit a Motorport dealer. After a testdrive by Pim, Richard bought a Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom (the same Pim allready has).
Rondje IJsselmeer Finally on the 5th of september 2011 Richard passed his driving test and on the 10th we did a 560 km testdrive around the IJsselmeer in the Netherlands.

You don't learn driving a motorbike during driving lessons. You don't learn how to drive a motorbike in heavy traffic. You don't learn how to drive a motorbike in The Netherlands. You learn how to drive a motorbike while driving through the alps, taking hairpins, doing offroad passes. You also learn how to enjoy your motorbike while driving through the alps, taking hairpins, doing offroad passes. That's why we went to do a trip through Europe in the end of september and the beginning of oktober 2011. After 11 days and 4300 km's of fun, a visit to the slopes of Val Thorens on our motorbikes and a visit to lots of campings through Europe we came back. Richard learned how to drive his bike! The visit to the slopes of Val Thorens even got published in ProMotor magazine!

first prototype Lots of things are for sale. But equipment for doing something nobody has done before is not for sale. So we have to make it ourselves. On the 22nd of December 2011 Richard made his first prototype of a snowboard bracket for a Suzuki V-Strom.

Also lots of other things had to be arranged which are for sale. Installing TKC80 M+S (mud + Snow) tires which are the only tyres which allow to have snowchains installed on them, is a thing we still have to do. Old chains from Richard's Santa Fe are being cut in pieces... but they do fit on the tires. We also still have to install heated grips on our bikes.

tweede proto

On the 8th of december Richard has made a 2nd prototype. This time of 15 mm steel pipe which defenately will be strong enough!

Om the 10th and 11th of december 2011 we installed Oxford Heated grips on our Vstrom's. We also made the brackets for carrying the snowboards. Now the brackets only have to be welded together, being painted and mounted finally to the bikes. To check if everything fitted we mounted the brackets with some tie-raps.
